Our Story

From humble beginnings as Jim’s Home Care to our present identity as Elka Home Care, our story centres on family. 

Our story began when James (known as Jim) witnessed his mother receiving care through a Home Care Package. He was unimpressed by the lacklustre approach to care, and the high fees from other providers. He quickly noticed that the higher fees meant that less care could be spent on his mum.  

James’ mom, Elka, was our inspiration and we would like to honour his dream of delivering better value and genuine support. 

Today, Elka Home Care is a trusted provider of personalised in-home care services across Australia. We’re passionate about helping people in their golden years live comfortably and independently in their own homes. 

As a family-owned business, we ensure each client receives the attentive support and value they deserve – just as James wanted for his mother Elka.

Elka Home Care started our as Jims Home Care, and the connection is very important. The business was originally started by James (or Jim as he was known).
As Jim’s mum moved onto a Home Care Package he was unimpressed by the lacklustre approach to care, and the high fees from other providers. He quickly noticed that the higher fees meant that less care could be spent on his mum.
We strive to continue that legacy of focusing on improving the care delivered to each person, as if they were part of the family.
James’, or Jim, mum was Elka, and we want to pay homage to his dream.
